The Valencia Taco Trail: 10 Real Taquerías by Neighbourhood

Valencia hides one of Spain's most interesting taco trails. With 31 active Mexican kitchens — concentrated mainly in Ruzafa, Centro and the Cabanyal — the city offers everything from street-style taquerías at €1 a taco to cantinas with the Casa de México's Sello Copil. This trail rounds up 10 verified stops with their real addresses, organised by neighbourhood so you can do it across one or two days.

Ruzafa is the heart of Valencia's Mexican cooking — La Llorona (Valencia's only taquería with the Sello Copil), Tecolotes, Sol Azteca and Las Adelitas Ciscar are all within a few streets of each other. The Cabanyal and Campanar share El Huey's two branches, and Centro adds Mi Tierra and Burritos Ribera. We start in Ruzafa.

Ruzafa: the taco epicentre

Stop 1: Taquería La Llorona

Address: Calle del Pintor Salvador Abril 35, 46005 Valencia (Ruzafa).
Style: urban taquería with the Sello Copil.
Order: assorted tacos, mezcal, tequila.
Price: €€.
Why start here: the only Valencia taquería holding the Casa de México's Sello Copil — the seal that certifies Mexican authenticity. A Ruzafa essential according to Valencia Plaza, modern decor and a mezcal list to open the night.

How to plan your Valencia taco trail

  • Short Ruzafa afternoon route: La Llorona → Tecolotes → Sol Azteca (Conde de Altea). Three stops within four streets, €20-30 a head.
  • Full-day route: Ruzafa in the afternoon + Cabanyal in the evening (El Huey). Combine neighbourhood taquerías with food by the beach. €35-50 a head.
  • Gastronomic route: La Llorona (Sello Copil) + La Ofrenda (Av. de Francia) + Mi Tierra (Centro). One Sello Copil holder plus two restaurants with more polished cooking. €50-70 a head.
  • Budget route: Tecolotes + El Huey + Burritos Trafalgar. For under €25 a head, three Mexican kitchens in three different neighbourhoods.

Practical tips

  • Ruzafa at weekends is chaos: La Llorona and Las Adelitas Ciscar build queues on Saturday nights. Book or arrive before 9pm.
  • Cabanyal in the morning or afternoon: El Huey Cabanyal is perfect to combine with a stroll along the Malvarrosa beaches.
  • Centro closes earlier: Mi Tierra and Burritos Ribera have stricter hours than Ruzafa. Last orders around 11pm.
  • Bike or tram to Cabanyal: the Cabanyal is 15 min by bike from the centre. Tram line 6 also reaches it.
  • Sello Copil = authenticity: of Valencia's 31 Mexican restaurants, only La Llorona holds the Sello Copil. It's the safest pick.
