Dried Beef (Carne Seca)

Carne seca is salted, seasoned, and sun-dried beef, typical of northern Mexico, especially Sonora and Chihuahua. It is used in machaca con huevo, northern-style burritos, and broths. Its fibrous texture and concentrated flavour make it a unique ingredient with no direct equivalent in other world cuisines.
