Choose the ingredients you have to see suggested recipes.

How does this tool work?

Tick the ingredients you have in your kitchen and the tool compares your list against the 1,250 Mexican recipes published on Recetas Mexas. Results are sorted by how close you are to cooking: recipes you can make right now come first, followed by those missing just one or two ingredients.

For every suggestion you'll see how many ingredients you already have and exactly which ones are missing, so you can decide whether to start cooking or jot a couple of items onto your shopping list. We assume a basic store cupboard (salt, oil, water and pepper) so they don't count as missing — you can switch that off next to the selector.

Your selection is saved in your browser and reflected in the page address, so you can reload the page or share the link without losing it. The more ingredients you tick, the sharper the suggestions get.

Frequently asked questions

What does this tool do?
It compares the ingredients you select with the ingredient list of every recipe on the site and shows you the recipes sorted from most to least complete, telling you exactly what's missing for each one.
How many recipes does it search?
All of them: 1,250 published Mexican recipes at the moment. The list updates automatically whenever we publish new recipes.
How are missing ingredients worked out?
We cross-check your list against each recipe's ingredients. Anything you didn't tick counts as missing, except basic store-cupboard items (salt, oil, water and pepper), which we assume you have — you can turn that assumption off next to the selector.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. It's free and requires no sign-up: your selection is stored in your browser, and you can share it with anyone by copying the page URL.
