Bristol spreads its eating out across distinct pockets rather than one restaurant strip, and Mexican food in the city follows the same pattern. There are venues in the centre around Colston Street and Cabot Circus, more down on the harbourside at Anchor Square and Wapping Wharf, one out at Old Market, and a pair on the northern side towards Redland and Whiteladies Road. Las Iguanas Bristol

At Unit A, South Building, Anchor Square, Bristol BS1 5UH. According to the listing this is the original Las Iguanas location, established in Bristol in 1991, which makes the harbourside branch the starting point of a chain now found across the country. Cargo Cantina

Old Market

Chido Wey

At 25B Central Hall, Old Market Street, Bristol BS2 0HB, east of the centre. The kitchen describes itself as Cali-Mexican, fusing San Francisco Mission District street food with Oaxacan flavours, and lists burritos, tacos and botanas alongside a cocktail bar. Mid-range band.

Redland and Whiteladies Road

North-west of the centre, the run of shops and restaurants along Whiteladies Road and up into Redland holds two of the longer-standing entries in this pack.

Casa Mexicana

At 29-31 Zetland Road, Redland, Bristol BS6 7AH. Our listing records it as a cornerstone of Bristol's culinary scene since 1986, and as one of the UK's longest-running Mexican restaurants, serving traditional dishes. Batida

Bath

Bath is roughly a quarter of an hour by train from Bristol Temple Meads, and the four venues mapped there are all in the centre, within a few minutes of one another on foot.

Dos Dedos

Las Iguanas Bath

At 12 Seven Dials, Bath BA1 1EN, in the city centre. Same Latin American chain format as the Bristol branch — flame-grilled dishes, sharing plates and bottomless brunch. Mid-range band, with hours we hold running from midday to 22:00 on Monday, 22:30 on Friday and 21:30 on Sunday.

Tortilla Bath

At 2 Cheap Street, Bath BA1 1NE, which the listing places steps from Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths. California-style burritos and tacos, fast-casual, in the budget band — the most convenient mapped option if you are sightseeing on a tight schedule.
