Mussels appear in the coastal cooking of both Mexico's Pacific and Gulf coasts. They are prepared in mussel broth with tomato and epazote, in mixed seafood cocktails, and in soupy Veracruz-style rice dishes. They are steamed open with garlic, serrano chilli, and coriander, then served with tostadas and lime.
