Mexican Restaurants in Central and West London: Area Guide

Mexican food in London is not concentrated in one quarter. It arrives in ones and twos, and the mix changes with the postcode: mezcal cantinas in Soho, market stalls in Seven Dials, weekday burrito counters around Chancery Lane, and sit-down restaurants running west through Notting Hill towards Hammersmith.

This article lists the Mexican restaurants, taquerias, food-hall stalls and takeaway counters mapped in our UK directory across central and west London, grouped by the area each venue's postcode places it in. It is a directory listing, not a ranking. We have not eaten at, tested or scored any of these places, and nothing here is ordered by merit.

Every detail below comes from that venue's directory entry: its format, its price band (budget, mid-range, upper mid-range or high end) and the dishes its listing names. Each heading links to the venue page, where we hold the address, website and opening hours.

Soho and Fitzrovia

The W1 blocks between Wardour Street and Tottenham Court Road hold the densest central cluster, from late-opening cantinas to fast lunch counters.

El Pastor Soho

A taqueria and mezcal bar at 66-70 Brewer Street, London W1F 9UP, listed for tacos, tostadas and cocktails. The hours we hold open at midday, running to 23:00 on Mondays, midnight on Fridays and 20:00 on Sundays. Mid-range band.

La Bodega Negra

A subterranean cantina at 9 Old Compton Street, London W1D 5JF, entered behind a sex shop facade. The entry describes a low-lit lounge serving bold Mexican classics, freshly made tortilla chips and mezcal cocktails, in the upper mid-range band.

Fonda

Santiago Lastra's second London opening, at 12 Heddon Street, London W1B 4BZ: sharing-style contemporary Mexican dishes, classic carnitas among them, in a bright two-floor space with colourful ceramic tiles. Mondays start at 17:30 and Sunday service is 12:00 to 16:00.

Wahaca Soho

At 80 Wardour Street, London W1F 0TF, on the Chinatown edge of Soho: Mexican street food, fresh tacos, quesadillas and margaritas. Mid-range band.

DF Tacos Tottenham Court Road

A Mexican diner in Fitzrovia at 28-29 Tottenham Court Road, London W1T 1BL, near Goodge Street station. Tacos, burritos and cocktails in a street-food-styled room. Budget band.

Covent Garden, Charing Cross and Holborn

WC2 takes in the theatre streets, the Seven Dials food hall and the offices around Chancery Lane, and the entries there reflect all three.

Cafe Pacifico

At 5 Langley Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JA. Our entry records it as London's first Mexican restaurant and tequila bar, open since 1982, with casual dining, signature cocktails and an annual Dia de los Muertos celebration. Mondays run 16:00 to 22:00 and Fridays 13:00 to midnight.

Condesa

A contemporary Mexican tapas and cocktail bar at 15 Maiden Lane, London WC2E 7NG, open since 2012 and described as bringing Mediterranean influences to traditional Mexican flavours. Mid-range band, with a 17:00 start on Mondays.

Wahaca Covent Garden

Thomasina Miers' Mexican market eating concept at 66 Chandos Place, London WC2N 4HG. Tacos and small plates for sharing, with a pre-theatre crowd. Mid-range band.

Lupita

A taqueria at 13-15 Villiers Street, London WC2N 6ND, near Trafalgar Square and Embankment. The entry notes it as one of London's established Mexican restaurants, with further sites across central, east and west London.

Los Gordos

A Mexican and Colombian fusion stall inside Seven Dials Market, 35 Earlham Street, London WC2H 9LD. The listing names beef birria tacos, stuffed burritos and frozen margaritas, in the budget band.

Masa Tacos

A family-run operation at Seven Dials Market, Earlham Street, London WC2H 9LX (residency since January 2026, plus a taco truck at events and markets). It began as a gazebo in Clapham market in 2023, grew into a vintage taco truck and trailer and joined the KERB collective. Heirloom corn tortillas and slow-cooked barbacoa.

Marylebone

The streets north of Oxford Street hold the upper end of the central listings, including the only entry here in the high-end band.

KOL

At 9 Seymour Street, Marylebone, London W1H 7BA. Our entry records it as the only Mexican restaurant in the UK with a Michelin Star, with chef Santiago Lastra's tasting menus combining Mexican cooking and hyper-seasonal British ingredients, and a langoustine taco as the signature dish. High-end band, closed Sundays and Mondays.

Cavita

Chef Adriana Cavita's restaurant at 56-60 Wigmore Street, Marylebone, London W1U 2RZ, serving traditional Mexican dishes from an open kitchen. The entry notes her previous kitchens, El Bulli and Pujol, and records that Time Out named it London's top Mexican restaurant in 2025. Upper mid-range band.

Santo Remedio Marylebone

The group's Casona & Cantina at 13-14 Thayer Street, London W1U 3JR, described as an elegant space evoking old colonial Mexican houses, with regional specialities and a mezcal and tequila bar. Most days run midday to 22:30.

Farringdon and Clerkenwell

Benito's Hat Farringdon

Close to Farringdon station at 12-14 Saint John Street, London EC1M 4AY. Burritos, tacos and bowls aimed at the Clerkenwell lunch crowd, in the budget band.

West London: Notting Hill, Kensington, Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith

Westbourne Grove and the streets near Portobello Market carry most of the west London entries, with two more at Kensington High Street and Westfield.

TAQ Notting Hill

At 139-143 Westbourne Grove, London W11 2RS: the relaunched Notting Hill stalwart formerly known as Taqueria, reopened in March 2026 with chef Eduardo Yishima as culinary director and support from Jackson Boxer's Dove team. The menu includes chorizo and jalapeno croquettas, fried shrimp taco dorados and TAQ tostaditos topped with carnitas and salsa verde.

Peyotito

At 31 Kensington Park Road, Notting Hill, London W11 2EU, listed for contemporary Mexican cooking, signature cocktails and an extensive tequila and mezcal selection. Upper mid-range band.

Los Mochis Notting Hill

A Mexican-Japanese fusion restaurant at 2-4 Farmer Street, London W8 7SN, near Portobello Market, with sushi, tacos and an agaveria lounge in an art-filled space. The entry records that it was crowned Restaurant of the Year in 2023.

Lupita Kensington

Lupita's west London outpost at 7 Kensington High Street, London W8 5NP, serving tacos, burritos, quesadillas and margaritas in a colourful room. Mid-range band.

Wahaca White City

At 1074 Ariel Way, Westfield Shopping Centre, London W12 7GB: Mexican street food, fresh tacos and margaritas between shops. Mid-range band.

• Tortilla Soho - 13 Frith Street, London W1D 4RB. California-style burritos, tacos and bowls; opens at 11:00 daily, to 22:00 on Fridays.
