Tortilla chips with pickled pork rind, chamoy, cucumber, jicama and chilli.

About this recipe

Tortilla chips with pickled pork rind strips, cucumber, jicama, chamoy, Valentina sauce, lime and chilli powder. Mexico's wildest street snack.

History & Origin

Tostilocos are Mexico's most eccentric and addictive street snack, a modern creation encapsulating the Mexican philosophy of mixing seemingly impossible flavour combinations. The name is a portmanteau of "Tostitos" and "locos" (crazy). They emerged in Mexico City and Guadalajara in the 1990s. The result is a symphony of salty, sour, sweet, spicy and umami flavours. They are eaten directly from the bag with a fork.
