Refried beans with chorizo, bacon and cheese, Sinaloa style.

About this recipe

Refried beans enriched with chorizo, bacon, cheese and chillies, typical of Sinaloa. A hearty, addictive dish that takes beans to another level.

History & Origin

Frijoles puercos are a legendary Sinaloan preparation whose name, meaning dirty or indecent beans, refers to the generous amount of rich ingredients piled on top: chorizo, bacon, pork scratchings, cheese and chillies. This dish was born in the ranching culture of Sinaloa and became the obligatory accompaniment to Sinaloan barbecues.
