About Us
Bringing the authentic flavors of Mexico to your kitchen — with ingredients you can find in the US.
Our mission
Recetas Mexas was born from a passion for showing real Mexican cooking: not the tex-mex version that spread around the world, but the tradition recognized by UNESCO in 2010 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. We adapt every recipe so you can make it with ingredients you can find in US stores — Walmart, Kroger, H-E-B, Target or your local Latin grocery — flagging cultural substitutions whenever they are needed.
Our approach
- Authenticity first: every recipe starts from a documented traditional version of a Mexican region (Oaxaca, Yucatán, Puebla, CDMX, etc.).
- Local adaptation without losing the essence: in the US most Mexican ingredients are easy to find at Latin grocery stores and big chains; when something is hard to find, we suggest cultural substitutions and tell you where to buy it online (including Amazon US).
- No magic shortcuts: we do not rely on “Mexican seasoning powder” or “ready-made sauce.” You will learn to make salsas, marinades and bases from scratch.
- Honest conversions: measurements in cups / tablespoons / grams / ounces based on real US usage. Prices in US dollars, updated periodically.

Edmond Bojalil
Founder · Mexican full-stack developer from Puebla
Originally from Puebla, Mexico. After years living in Europe, he discovered how hard it is to find authentic Mexican recipes with local ingredients — and that the “Mexican” version circulating online in other languages is often far from the real thing. Recetas Mexas is his personal project to fix that: it started in Spain, then the UK, and now reaches the US, home to the largest Mexican community outside Mexico.
