Mexican Food Beyond the Strip: Henderson and North Las Vegas

Sep 28, 20264 min read(Updated: Sep 29, 2026)

Twenty-three real Mexican restaurants and grocery stores in Henderson and North Las Vegas, Nevada, including a six-business cluster on East Lake Mead Boulevard.

Our directory's Las Vegas guide covers the city proper — dozens of listings clustered around the resort corridor. This one covers the two suburbs that ring it on opposite sides: Henderson to the southeast, and North Las Vegas, which despite the name sits northwest of the Strip along its own commercial spine. Between the two, our data shows 23 active listings: 12 restaurants and 11 stores.

Henderson: five restaurants, all rated above 4.3

AddressNameRating
16 S Water StJuan's Flaming Fajitas & Cantina4.7 (5,312 reviews)
3440 St Rose Pkwy Ste 1Hussong's Mexican Cantina4.6 (605 reviews)
2021 W Sunset RdChavelos Mexican Bar & Grill4.5 (1,222 reviews)
50 N Valle Verde Dr Ste 110Tacos Los Barrios4.4 (475 reviews)
30 Via Brianza Ste 100Sonrisa Grill4.3 (1,058 reviews)

All five of Henderson's restaurants carry both a rating and a review count — a cleaner data set than several other cities in this series. The average across all five is 4.5, and Juan's Flaming Fajitas & Cantina, downtown on South Water Street, has both the highest rating (4.7) and by far the highest review count (5,312 — more than four times the next closest). Henderson's two grocery listings are La Bonita Supermarkets on North Green Valley Parkway (no rating on file) and Cuevas Meat Market on South Boulder Highway (4.2 stars).

North Las Vegas: the Lake Mead Boulevard corridor

North Las Vegas has seven restaurants and nine stores, and East Lake Mead Boulevard alone carries six of the sixteen:

AddressNameType
1108 E Lake Mead BlvdAgave y Sal Mexican GrillRestaurant — mexicano
2021 E Lake Mead BlvdEl SuperStore — supermercado
2632 E Lake Mead BlvdCasa El DesayunoRestaurant — mexicano
3100 E Lake Mead Blvd Ste 21Panaderia La EstrellaStore — tienda mexicana
3320 E Lake Mead BlvdLa Herradero Meat MarketStore — tienda mexicana
3424 E Lake Mead Blvd Ste FRojas ProduceStore — tienda mexicana

That's two restaurants and four stores spanning roughly two and a half miles of the same boulevard — the single busiest corridor identified anywhere in this Nevada pairing. A second, shorter cluster sits on Las Vegas Boulevard North: two restaurants (Antojitos Culiacán at 2462, El Tamalucas at 2987) and two stores (La Bonita Supermarkets at 2672, Broadacres Marketplace at 2930).

The remaining North Las Vegas restaurants are Tacos El Gordo on Losee Road and Roberto's Taco Shop on Simmons Street, neither of which carries a rating or review count in our current data — worth flagging specifically for Tacos El Gordo, since the same chain's other locations (in Las Vegas proper and in Chula Vista, California) are among the most-reviewed Mexican restaurants in our entire US directory. This particular North Las Vegas location simply hasn't accumulated the same review history in the data we have, or Google hasn't surfaced one yet.

Of the five North Las Vegas restaurants that do carry ratings — Agave y Sal (4.4), Antojitos Culiacán (4.7), Casa El Desayuno (4.6), El Tamalucas (4.7), and Viva Zapata's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina (4.4) — the average is 4.56, essentially in line with Henderson's 4.5. Casa El Desayuno's 2,666 reviews are the highest volume of any North Las Vegas restaurant.

On the grocery side, only two of North Las Vegas's nine stores carry a rating: La Herradero Meat Market (4.6) and Carniceria Guadalajara (4.2), on West Craig Road — which also has a restaurant nearby, Viva Zapata's, on the East Craig Road segment of the same street.

Reading the two suburbs together

Combine both suburbs' rated restaurants — 5 from Henderson, 5 from North Las Vegas — and the blended average comes out to 4.53, a tight cluster regardless of which side of the valley you're on. The bigger structural difference is corridor shape: Henderson's restaurants are scattered across separate commercial pockets with no street carrying more than one listing, while North Las Vegas concentrates six of its sixteen total listings on a single boulevard.

Website coverage across both suburbs

All five Henderson restaurants have a website on file. North Las Vegas is nearly as complete: 6 of 7 restaurants have one, missing only Antojitos Culiacán. On the grocery side, 6 of North Las Vegas's 9 stores have a website (El Super, both La Bonita Supermarkets locations, Mariana's Supermarkets, Broadacres Marketplace and Panaderia La Estrella), while Henderson's two stores split one and one — La Bonita Supermarkets has a site, Cuevas Meat Market doesn't. Restaurant-level web presence is close to universal in both suburbs, which is a cleaner picture than several other cities in this series and makes sense given how many of these are established local chains rather than single-location independents.
