Watermelon agua fresca with lime, Mexico's most popular.
About this recipe
Watermelon agua fresca is one of Mexico's most popular fresh drinks: blended watermelon with water, a touch of lime and sugar. Its vibrant red colour and natural sweetness make it a favourite across the country.
History & Origin
Watermelon arrived in Mexico from Africa via the Spanish in the 16th century and found ideal growing conditions in the Mexican climate. Watermelon agua fresca became a staple of fresh drinks due to the abundance and low price of the fruit.
